Stenciled Summer T-Shirt

Summer vacation officially begins for us next Thursday, but it looks like it has already started for many kids already. I found this bright green shirt on clearance last year and thought it would be fun to turn it into a cute t-shirt for summer.

I cut the decal out in vinyl and peeled out the reverse image so I could stencil it with paint onto the shirt. Sometimes it’s a little tricky to get vinyl to stick to fabric, so here’s a tip. Use a piece of transfer tape that has already been used or lightly rub a t-shirt on a new piece to remove some of the tackiness. Also, place a piece of cardboard between the shirt to keep the paint from going through to the back.

I wanted the paint to be subtle, so instead of using a paintbrush, I used a small sponge.  I just lightly dabbed on the paint until I was happy with how it looked.

After it had dried for about 5-7 minutes, I pulled up the vinyl and was left with this fun summer shirt!

Art Display Wall

My daughter loves to draw and  make things.  She has been asking for months for a place to display her artwork. This week, I was finally able to cross the project off my list.

This display was easy to put together.  The frames and quote are cut out of vinyl. I shared the frames last week as a free digital cut file, so be sure to download it before it expires.

I found the large clothespins at Michael’s and used command strips to mount them to the wall.

I put this up while my daughter was at school and she was so excited when she came home. The clothespins make it easy to switch out the artwork with her newest creations!

I’m sharing the creative quote as this week’s free digital cut file. Come back later and grab it so you can create your own!

Mom’s Diner Custom Apron

With Mother’s Day just a couple of days away, there is still time to put together a quick gift or two.  I was at Michael’s the other day and saw some plain red aprons and thought it would be fun to turn it into a “mom” apron.

So, I got to work creating a new design. Then, I used heat press vinyl (heat transfer vinyl) to turn this plain red apron into a perfect gift for mom.

Using heat press vinyl makes projects so quick and easy.  There’s no paint or brushes to clean and they always look great when you’re finished. Check out this project to see how I layer multiple colors of vinyl.

DIY Gift Card Holder

If you’re a follower of my blog or have spent any time looking around, it is quite obvious I use vinyl to create most of my projects. But, this week, I was in need of a gift card holder, so I thought it would be a great time to venture out and try some paper crafting.

I pretty much know what I’m doing when making cut files for vinyl, but this type of cut file took me some time to figure out.  It’s a fairly simple design to cut, but definitely wasn’t simple to create.  There is definitely a learning curve for creating folded/perforated designs.

Once the design was created, it was an easy project to make.  Just cut out the pieces with a digital cutter, fold on the perforations, and glue everything together.
Come back later for the free digital file to create your own.
